BD-PoliceBangladesh Police Killed Dhaka Gulshan terrorist attack mastermind Tamim Chowdhury on Saturday according to police sources and multiple press coverage of the incident.

The suspected mastermind of an Isis attack that killed more than 20 people at a café in Bangladesh earlier this year has been shot dead by police.

Tamim Chowdhury, a Bangladeshi-Canadian terrorist, died in a gun battle with Police Forces at a building near Dhaka. His family hails from the northeastern Bangladesh district of Sylhet.

In a press conference earlier this year Bangladesh Police identified Tamim Chowdhury as the mastermind of the Gulshan attack in Dhaka and offered a reward of 2 million taka (£19,364).

Tamim Ahmed Chowdhury (25 July 1986 – 27 August 2016), known by his kunya Abū Ibrāhīm al-Hanīf was alleged to be the emir of the Islamic State (IS) in Bangladesh. However Bangladesh Police’s Counter-terrorism Unit chief Monirul Islam has ruled out any connection between the outfit and the Islamic State.
