Biswanath 8UK Fundraising Dinner party for Disabled people
Biswanath 8UK an organisation dedicated to working for the habitants of Biswanath held a Fundraising dinner party for disabled people on Monday 1st July 2019 at Impression Events Venue in London.
This meeting was attended by Monir Khan (Chairman), Sajjadur Rahman (Vice Chairman), Abdul Majid (Vice Chairman), Azad Khan (Vice Chairman), S.I Khan (Secretary), MD Nanu Miah (Treasurer), Dr M S Ali (Senior Council), Cllr Folik M Chowdhory (Senior Council), Monir Ali (Education & Cultural Secretary), Habibur Rahman (Fundraising Secretary), Salek Chowdhory (Membership Secretary), Kodor Uddin (Organising Secretary), Sundar Ali (Technology & IT Development Secretary), Enus Ali (Assistant Organising Secretary), members, many distinguished guests and guest speakers.
The purpose of this event was to raise funding to support the organisations flagship project helping disabled people in Biswanath.
Biswanath 8UK has recently opened a centre for disabled people in Norshing Pur on Rampasha Road approximately 1 mile from Biswanath Bazar providing support to disabled people in the Upazila to receive medical attention, welfare support and educational training. The centre has all facilities including toilet, kitchen, water and other amenities required to help the disabled people.
The organisation is targeting to raise at least £36,000 to cover the basic running costs for 4 years and is appealing to everyone for their support.
The event was hosted by Monir Ali who introduced the Chairman to open the fundraising event. Monir Khan talked passionately about he’s personal experience when a child born in he’s family had a rare condition and lived only for a short period and as result he has promised to help others with disabilities.
The Secretary S.I Khan and Treasurer MD Nanu Miah both talked about the organisation and what has been achieved to date and urged everyone to support this new flagship project helping disabled people of Biswanath.
One guest speaker Rachel Andrews from Vision for Bangladesh was received well by all the audience as she spoke about her charity helping people in Moulvibabzar with eye problems receive treatment.
There were many distinguished guest speakers all providing their support for the disabled centre and encouraging others to provide their support.
There was also a raffle with multiple prizes such as Tablet PC and Dinner for four at a Top restaurant in St Albans all helped to generate funding for this cause.
